Ace Bailey
Ace Bailey is a tall wing that’s a talented jump shooter with defensive upside. His ability to shoot over contests and get hot in a hurry led to some big-time scoring outbursts throughout his freshman season. On the other hand, his reliance on contested shot-making resulted in some head-scratching shots and rough shooting games. Either way, his upside as a two-way wing is undeniable.
Strengths:
Elevates well on his jumper and has a high release.
Can make tightly contested shots in the mid-range and from three.
Long arms and solid timing help him block shots and protect the rim.
Upside as a play finisher on cuts and in transition. Had some athletic finishes on straight-line drives and attacking closeouts.
Efficient on catch and shoot opportunities.
Weaknesses:
Tendency to hunt his own shot, limited upside as a passer.
Loose handle that makes it hard for him to create space off the dribble.
Doesn’t put a high amount of pressure on the rim and can struggle to blow by defenders.
Needs to become stronger and add weight to his frame in order to guard bigger forwards.
