Caleb Wilson

Wilson is the most athletic play finisher in the draft, using a springy vertical and long frame to make highlight plays around the rim. His high motor helps him get anywhere on the court in a hurry, whether he's running rim to rim for a transition opportunity or making splash plays on the defensive end. Wilson's blend of all-out effort, fluid movement, and flashes of passing vision makes him a tantalizing forward prospect despite his shortcomings as a jump shooter.

Strengths:

  • Impressive athlete who thrives in transition as a play finisher.

  • Scores in isolation in the mid-range with an array of fadeaways, spin moves, and pivots.

  • Lob threat as a cutter and roll man in a halfcourt setting.

  • Uses his length on defense to block shots and force turnovers.

  • Quick jumping ability and relentless effort helps him rebound the ball well on both ends.

  • Capable of making high-level passes out of the post and in transition.

Weaknesses:

  • Lacks an efficient long-range jump shot at this point of his development.

  • Tendency to hunt splash plays on defense which can lead to him being out of position.

  • Can be loose with his handle when operating in traffic.

  • Susceptible to getting pushed off his spot in the post given his lack of strength.
