Carter Bryant
Bryant is a prospect with a high ceiling on the defensive end given his size, instincts, and motor. He had a promising season as a jump shooter, especially on catch-and-shoot opportunities from three, and adds value as a wing who can finish plays when given space around the rim. His cutting, spot-up shooting, and ability to guard are translatable skills, but his overall upside is capped because of his lack of both on-ball creation and creativity as a finisher.
Strengths:
Switchable and disruptive defender who uses his length to force turnovers while guarding on-ball and in passing lanes.
Provides rim protection from the wing position with the ability to rotate and contest shots in the paint.
Clean jumper mechanics and a high release. Has the potential to be a knockdown shooter from three-point range.
Smart cutter on offense and finishes plays around the rim.
Lob threat in transition and when cutting from the baseline.
High-motor defender, flying around to contest shots and crash the defensive glass. Plays extremely physical on this end.
Weaknesses:
Struggles to create his own shot given his lack of ball-handling ability.
Can go quiet on the offensive end when defenders take away his three-pointer.
Lacks fluidity as a finisher when playing against athletic defenders and rim protectors.
His aggressiveness on defense can lead to foul trouble on occasion.
