Darryn Peterson

Peterson has prototypical size for an NBA 2-guard and is the most gifted shotmaker in this class. He sports clean jumper mechanics and can elevate over defenders to get off his shot from anywhere on the floor. Despite lacking the off the dribble burst we saw in high school, he still had big time moments as a slasher and above the rim finisher in traffic. Peterson took real strides as an off ball player at Kansas, showcasing the ability to fly off screens and hit contested jump shots. His offensive gifts paired with his defensive playmaking make him a surefire top 2 player in this class. If his on-ball burst and playmaking return to the track we saw in high school, Peterson could be an all-nba level guard.

Strengths:

  • Shows the ability to shoot on the move and off the dribble.

  • Strong straight line driver who shows flashes of vertical burst near the rim.

  • Defensive playmaker with above average length and instincts.

  • Athleticism and frame give him a high upside as a as a two-way wing.

Weaknesses:

  • Showed the tendency to settle for jumpshots in his long collegiate season.

  • Limited fhalses as a passer in his on-ball oppouites.

  • Doesnt possess the tightest handle in traffic

  • Took a step back as a driver from his high school level.
