Kon Knueppel
Knueppel is a sharpshooting wing that can put the ball on the deck and use his strength to score in the paint. He’s arguably the best 3-point shooter in this draft, with a compact shooting stroke and the ability to stay balanced while shooting on the move. Knueppel showed he’s much more than just a spot-up shooter during his freshman season, becoming more confident as a driver and flashing as a high-IQ passer within Duke’s offense. Questions surrounding Kon’s lack of foot speed and subpar measurables are valid concerns, but his feel for the game and skills as a scorer are hard to overlook.
Strengths:
Consistent three point shooter on high volume. Has repeatable mechanics and stays balanced while coming off screens and shooting on the move.
Strong driver who is exceptional at playing off two feet and using fakes to get quality looks.
Solid passer who can make reads off screens and within the offense.
Flashed potential as a wing who can create his own shot, especially when Cooper Flagg was injured.
Weaknesses:
Low defensive ceiling given his lack of turnover creation and shot blocking.
Lack of quick twitch and burst off the dribble could prevent aspects of his driving game from translating.
Can struggle to contain quicker guards off the dribble.
