Liam McNeeley

McNeeley had a roller-coaster freshman season at UConn, but he still has the tools to be a productive wing in the NBA. Looked at as one of the best shooters in this class heading into the year, McNeeley struggled to find consistency this past season, ending the year shooting under 38.1% from the field and 31.7% from three. Despite his struggles, McNeeley measured in a 6’6.75” at the combine and had impressive scoring outbursts versus solid competition this past season. Questions about his defense and ability to score near the rim hold back his draft stock.

Strengths:

  • Upside as a shooter with compact mechanics and confidence from three-point range. Had acumen as a shooter heading into college. Shot 86.6% from the free throw line.

  • Strong rebounder who uses his size well and has a high motor.

  • Solid passing vision in half-court offense. Flashed the ability to find cutters and throw lay-down passes off drives.

Weaknesses:

  • Limited potential on the defensive end given lack of length and quick-twitch athleticism.

  • Needs to improve as a finisher. Graded out poorly around the rim in his freshman season.

  • Lacks efficiency as an off-the-dribble scorer. Struggled shooting dribble jumpers and getting past defenders on the perimeter.

  • Underperformed as a shooter in his one season at UConn. Had rough shooting games at varying points in the season
